Ethical Diamonds

At House of Diamonds, every piece of diamond jewellery we create is not only beautiful but also ethically sourced. We are committed to offering conflict-free, responsibly sourced diamonds that reflect our core values of transparency, human dignity, and environmental stewardship.

While we comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and the System of Warranties, we also acknowledge that these initiatives—though important—do not fully address the wider issues of worker exploitation, environmental degradation, and community displacement often tied to the diamond trade. That’s why we go beyond basic compliance, working only with trusted suppliers who provide clear traceability, fair labor practices, and verifiable sourcing transparency.

We prioritise diamonds from countries with robust labor and environmental protections and maintain strict sourcing standards for diamonds cut and polished in India by partnering only with audited, certified manufacturers (e.g., RJC, ISO, and SA8000 certified).

Our promise is simple: whether lab-grown or natural, every diamond we offer is selected with integrity — conflict-free, low-impact, and ethically aligned with our commitment to people and the planet.

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme

The Kimberley Process was introduced by the United Nations in 2003 to prevent the flow of conflict diamonds—also known as “blood diamonds”—from entering the global market. It requires:

  • Government-validated certificates for rough diamond exports.

  • Tamper-resistant packaging during transport.

  • National-level controls and oversight by member countries.

Today, the Kimberley Process covers roughly 99% of the world’s rough diamond trade. However, it has been widely criticised for its narrow definition of “conflict”, which excludes issues such as child labor, unsafe working conditions, and environmental harm. At House of Diamonds, we treat the Kimberley Process as a baseline, not a guarantee — and we apply far stricter ethical criteria in our own sourcing.

The System of Warranties

The System of Warranties complements the Kimberley Process by ensuring that all subsequent diamond transactions—beyond rough diamond export—maintain traceability and ethical assurance. It requires all diamond dealers and manufacturers to:

  • Issue warranty statements confirming the conflict-free status of each diamond.

  • Maintain transparent records for regular audits.

  • Work with reputable grading bodies (e.g., GIA, HRD, DCLA) to ensure legitimacy and quality.

At House of Diamonds, we require our partners to uphold these standards and go further, providing full documentation, ethical certification, and traceable supply chains from mine to workshop to you.
